Park Island, from Muizenberg Peak in November 2005.

Pam Hepple who co-ordinates the maintenance of Park Island reports she has received R5000 from a local Marina resident to help with the ongoing costs. This donation is very welcome as it keeps Nimrod, Adrian and Inoccent the gardener / labourers employed for a few more months especially into the winter months.

Since 2010, another local Marina resident has donated R2000 each month, to keep the gardeners employed and working on Park Island!!
How is this for community based caring, for a public amenity and for the benefit of all?

During March and April we cut back a huge amount of vegetation. This has all been chipped and we are busy laying what we have on the pathways, which always makes a difference.

After our recent rain last week the litter was strewn all over the island and around the banks, but thanks to Adrian, Nimrod and Innocent, most of it has been cleared.

We have organized three fund raising events.
The first is a live music event put on by Paul West, this Sunday 28th April, the second is a bridge / scrabble / canasta afternoon on 2 May 2013 and the third is an auction on 11 May 2013.
All these events are at Upper Crust Restaurant and are to raise funds to keep our three labourers employed and hopefully to enable us to repair the bird hide on the island.
