Zandvlei Trust

Village Heights Community Centre - 06 August 2016.

This is a working relationship with Village Heights Community Centre,
Youth with a Mission - Muizenberg
and Zandvlei Trust.

Megan Ruiters from Youth with a Mission - Muizenberg ran a Dignity Campaign for Women today
with her assistant Kat helping her. Sharon McCallum co-ordinated and raised the money to purchase
the packs for the ladies and to provide the workshop requirements and something to eat and drink.
Washable pads and panties will be purchased for the group participants. Many young girls do not go to school when they are menstruating as they can not afford to buy sanitary pads.
Education is vitally important for women and all school going children to complete. It is important that they all also understand their bodily functions to avoid the stigmas and prejudice around this issue.

There were some uncertain and probably nervous participants initially who came today.

"Nou wat gaan hulle waaroor praat?" dink sy.

Megan soon put the group at ease with her introduction, discussion and presentation.

Kat also discussed part of what we were going to talk about. The muffins and cooldrink helped
to break the ice too.

Then some fun activity with everyone joining in.

We learnt a lot of new information today and had fun going it.

Thank you very much to the donor who made it possible to order packs for the ladies which will
arrive in a couple of weeks time.
