On 22nd and 23rd October the 17th International Cape Town Kite festival took place.

On Wednesday 21st September,  John and Sandra Fowkes gave a presentation on  How the biological controlled weevils are removing the hyacinth in the Westlake Wetlands. They gave a 10 year history of the Rutter Road community activities in dealing with this issue.

On 17th August, Leif Petersen of the Sustainable Livelihood Foundation presented an illustrated talk on "The legal and illegal consumptive use of plants and animals in the City of Cape Town and the effect it has on local biodiversity".

on Wednesday, 20th July Professor Timm Hoffman, gave a talk on "Citizen Science and Zandvlei Plants", a short explanation of the process of collecting specimens by Robin and Pat Burnett. Then on Saturday, 23rd July the Herbarium was handed over to the Reserve management.

The potential for local residents to make a lasting and meaningful contribution to conservation is vast.

On the 16 June was the annual Arbour Day planting, along the Sun Rise Beach coastal strip.
