Zandvlei Play Park is located between Zandvlei Estuary and The Row, Muizenberg and lies within Zandvlei Nature Reserve. It is an area of rich natural beauty and a source of enjoyment for the community, but the park is somewhat neglected.
Over the past five months (Nov 2024 -March 2025) significant improvements have been made to the park as a collaborative project between the community, Zandvlei Trust and the reserve. It’s no longer a derelict park full of broken play equipment but is now a more welcoming park with working play equipment. These improvements have been possible thanks to the generosity and support of Zandvlei Trust.
In this next phase of improvement work, we hope to continue to improve the park through planting of indigenous flora.
The overarching goal of this project is significantly improve Zandvlei Play Park and create a recreational space where children as well as caregivers, dog-walkers and other community members can enjoy the vlei.
The main goal of this second phase of the project is to improve the garden area surrounding the play park, through planting of locally indigenous flora.
Our efforts to build safe and interesting places for children (and guardians!) to enjoy the unique beauty of Zandvlei are only possible with your support. Help us continue this vital work.
